Here are some tips you can try:

  1. Meditate for a few minutes before you sit down to write. Clear everything from your mind. Don’t even concentrate on the writing; at least not yet. Just meditate and try to relax. After a few minutes play some soft instrumental music and focus on the task at hand. Start getting in the mood to write.
  2. Physical exercise on a daily basis is one of the best stress-busters out there. It doesn’t have to take a long time. It can be of great benefit to you both physically and mentally. You can rebound on a mini-trampoline for 20 minutes. You can run up and down your basement stairs or you can take a jump rope outside and jump for 20 minutes. Work up a sweat. It flushes out stress.
  3. Go for a swim or for a run around the block a few times.
  4. After a good workout take a hot shower. It helps reduce stress as well; if you have a few minutes to spare relax in a hot tub.
  5. Try not to eat to reduce stress. That only gets you in trouble with weight gain and feeling sluggish. Sugar isn’t a good remedy either.
  6. Drink lots of water and make sure you eat good sources of vitamin B; it’s the one your body uses up rapidly when under stress.
